Tel Aviv University pledges aid to students mobilized in Gaza

Tel Aviv University announced it intended to award tuition scholarships for the next academic year to hundreds of students who were called to serve in Operation Protective Edge.

Tel Aviv University president, Joseph Klafter, expressed his appreciation for students who left their courses to enlist and said the purpose of the scholarship was to help them complete their studies due to the operation and future learning.

He noted that the university had contributed greatly to Israel’s security.

“Many students and alumni of the university contribute to all security forces in Israel, whereby they hold positions throughout the chain of command,” Prof. Klafter said last week.

“Many researchers of Tel Aviv University have won the Israel Security Prize for their work for the state,” he added.

The grant money for the students will be provided by donors and Friends of Tel Aviv University in countries from around the world.
